The Kiss: A Ghastly Smile

The stars were sparkling down that cold winter night. Tears roll down the deep blue eyes as she tried to remember the musings of that evening. She couldn't control herself. Chilly night air brush past her barren feet as she sat there in the cold, facing the dark world below her, probably fast asleep.

Her phone chimed for the twelfth time that night, all read "Sorry".. But she was in no state to accept the apology. She couldn't take it anymore. Screeching pain emanated from her insides each time her phone chimed in. Each text ever so painful as a malignant ulcer oozing venom churning her insides. She can't bear it!

She flung out her mobile, and typed out these words she never imagined would, "We're over now, Alan", each letter slowly eating away a part of her, that by the end of it, she was left this body, devoid of all life, her heart slowly freezing to the ghastly memories and nightmares that have been haunting her. The shadows round her closed in, making each nightmare so real as to choke her up, blood draining off her face, air refusing to enter her lungs.

Her eyes welled up, as her phone slipped off her lifeless fingers, as it flung deep into the abyss that lay beneath her. She knew that moment it were the last night of her life. She looked up hoping to find solace in the night sky. It was dark, no hint of a glimmering star in the faraway kingdoms, not even a dying one. The moon refused to shine upon her, refusing to lay her graceful arms around her and ask her to hang in there just a little. It wasn't such nights. The sky roared up against her, clouds swirling upon her, clouds darker than the darkness that dwelt within Alan's heart.

She felt her body grow numb, bitterness slowly taking her over. In search for any feeling that might be lurking deep in her sub-conscious, she let her eyelids close upon the lifeless eyes, and she dreamed heaven. She felt these lips press hard against hers, these eyes closed upon hers, painted by the setting sun. Her heart felt light, this song playing in the background.... Wild...

You drive me Wild...

Her body felt the warmth it ever craved for. Losing herself in the arms of this stranger, her body gave in, lifeless she fell.

As she fell through the abyss, a strange smile adorned her lifeless face, a ghastly one.

It was nothingness.
