An actor whom I'll never forget: Alan Rickman (1946-2016)
I don't remember crying. Well, at least not for someone I never ever have met (or have met).
I was just typing out a piece of fiction for you guys a while back. I almost published it, when my Chrome popped up with a notification from a friend.
It read, "Alan Rickman, Harry Potter and Die Hard actor, dies 69."
Tears welled up in my eyes, and I didn't know what to do.
He was my childhood. There couldn't be a better Professor Snape for all Hogarts. Each year I waited out for each of them movies to stream on our TV, just to mindlessly hate the character, but end up crying when he was there writhing in the corner, giving that last piece of memory, as he passed on.
He was a villain of sorts. And as Judge Turpin in "Sweeney Todd", he caught my attention as a splendid actor. He even sang so well. As an ever trying husband in "Love Actually", he put a smile on my face. Who could have been a better Absolom with that eerie voice of his.. There were times when I used o watch compilations of Snape's dialogues, just to hear that voice stressing upon each syllable. It was exhilarating for me listening to him.
Through out my childhood, he's grown onto me. I enjoy imitating his voice, and how he potrayed the perfect version of Professor Snape. I'll never forget how he said "Mr. Potter" a brazillion times, and Always he'll ever be my favorite actor.
Am short of words. He meant so much to me that the news of his death hit me harder than David Bowie's!! It's tough to get in terms with this fact. He can't simply die! Damn cancer! It's tough for me to get in terms with it!! I know am going to spend the coming week searching for his works and rewatching his movies, as I talk to my cat of how awesome he is...
But at this juncture, all I could say is, Professor Snape, you'll never be forgotten. I raise my wand in respect to such a amazing actor. Maybe at times as this, I'd really wish there were an afterlife. But sadly, he is no more.
Good bye, Alan Rickman! Thank you for such a beautiful childhood. Good night, now. Sleep tight! :'(
My condolences to his family and all my fellow fans. Maybe someday we'll see him through the veil, in his best Snape's impersonation. Hogwarts will never forget him.
