Long Drives, Surgeries, Lasers, and Birthday Parties!

Such a day! Oh wait! I just remembered. Darn procrastination! Okay. I'll be honest with you guys. This post is supposed to be made two days back. I was "too tired" to actually type this out, and yesterday, meh!

Anyway, so I had a very busy day then. Woke up to the sweet scent of soil, and as I grabbed my brush to start the day, I noticed the sky overcast, and the roads wet. The ends of my lips twisted into a huge grin. Yes! I am to drive my dad to the hospital about 30.7 km away from home for his laser treatment. The thought of a beautiful drive at 90-100 kmph on the highways, the sweet air brushing my hair, and the soft drizzle... yep! They were enough for me to shake off sleep from my eyes.

I was up and ready before everyone else, and revved up the engine of our old Esteem. Damn! The darned thing has too many issues. After a couple of tries, it finally started and was, well, running okay. Let me tell you! Our car has a really huge pick-up problem, and it's clutch isn't working that nice. Thanks to my laziness, I never took it to the mechanic, and here we were trying our best not to let the speed fall below 35 kmph till we hit the highway. Benz circle passed, and there was nothing to stop us now.

Of-course the voices in my head are laughing maniacally. 40 to 50... 60.. 70... Bwahahaha.... NINETY!!! I pulled down the window, the wind swiftly passing, speedometer raising... 100!!! (If only, our car was in a better condition.. lol). Hell broke loose. I was driving crazy, enjoying every moment of it, inspite of being met by an occasional burst of fear from my mum. There was no stopping. Passed a checkpoint, and in no time we were at the hospital. Wait, did I mention that it was a 30.5ish kilometer ride? Well, it did take a toll on our car... as expected. So, had to take it to the side, and had to look how it's been cooling off. I asked my parents to go in, and get his number while I tend to the vehicle. Opened its hood, and damn! The engine was burning hot. Opened up the cooling coils (I hope they call it that), and realized there was a leak in the coolant. Managed to cool it of with 4 liters of water as it drunk all of it huffing and puffing off steam. What a day!

And as I sat in with the door and hood opened, I could feel the soft touch of drizzle over my face. I looked around, and it was a beautiful countryside. The air was fresh, the road damp with rain, and the world seems to have been painted a beautiful shade of green and grey... My kind of weather.. Thank goodness, the hospital is located in the outskirts. So, after staying a while, I got in, my dad and mum were waiting for dad's check up. I engrossed myself into To Kill A Mockingbird, and finally when my dad's turn came, I accompanied him into the consultation room followed by the operation theater.

I realized a weird thing. The nurse was more kind and engaged us in talking, rather than the doctor who examined my dad with a smug look on her face. Maybe because she's tired, I don't know, but the nurse was working with her all that time, prepping my dad, and clarifying even the minuscule of doubts we had. I don't know, and I don't care. So, after the treatment they fixed a date for another sitting when they'd do the remnant of the treatment. And, the grin returned.

Another drive awaits. With all the more crazy life and adrenaline I drove back home. It was around 3: 30 pm, and I was free for the evening. I looked at the date, and realized that it was the birthday of one of my very best friends and a past teacher of mine. I remembered the collage I made that previous night and sending it by Whatsapp with a tiny message alongside. So, why not make a card for her?

With that, I pulled out my paints, took the handmade paper I got from my friends as a birthday gift, and started painting. Everything was fine until making the base and borders. I ran out of ideas. I managed a "Happy Birthday", and a poorly painted cake, which I tried to perk up every time I saw it was dry. I was running out of time, as we decided to hang out at KFC that evening. I pulled out the printer that by eldest brother brought, and searched frantically on my computer and internet, fitting stuff to paste on the card. There wasn't much time to paint the message, so, I typed it out on Word, accompanied by some of the clip-arts, and printed it out. Cut it out, and realized I don't have glue. Damn my laziness, I never went out to get it before. Found some two-way tape and used it up decorating however the hell I could. (Hehe.. Ma'am, I know you're reading this. All the way, I enjoyed making it. Totally worth my time)

So, she started, and so did I... Stopped by a supermarket and got a bar of Cadbury DairyMilk Silk (Oh! How I love the sound of it!), and ran to the KFC where she's been waiting. With a smile I placed those tiny gifts in her hands. Was happy to see her smiling, well, I have to tell ya! She's got quite a contagious smile. She was a really good teacher, and each day she makes many fans among her students. I loved studying under her. She made learning easy for us, and our class respects and loves her a lot.

Learned that she's had a great day with raining chocolates, and sweet little surprises from her colleagues at school. She was happy, I was happy. We chatted over stuff, she telling about her day, and me about mine as we dined on Hot and Crispy Chicken, sipping our Vanilla Blue. It was a great evening, and with a couple of Take Away orders, we parted. Took a bus back home, tired, yet feeling still energetic. Was chatting up friends and gaming till 11 pm before I finally made a move to sleep.

The real realization that I was utterly tired struck the next morning, so I helped myself to a bit more sleep, and well, what can I say? It's my summer vacation, and so I spent my day procrastinating, and doing almost nothing the whole day.

And here I am, now, after cooking and all, typing this out. Wow! This really takes up a lot of time.

But really glad on doing so.
