Friends: Deranged and Disoriented.

"I don't even know what I'm doing at this place. With the priorities and plans reiterated, I don't see what keeps me here."

"You could always fly"

"I know that, but I can't understand what stops me."

Perched on the rooftop, looking over at the dark jungle past his dorm, Adrian's eyes were transfixed at the far away sea. He often longed her comfort, and this chilly night wasn't an exception.

"You remember those nights we used to run down to the beach just to hear the soft rumbling of the sea?"

Silence followed. Red wasn't sure of what to respond to his friend's musings. He has known Adrian for about 3 years now. They are the best of friends for speaking out loud, but as time flew, both knew they were slowly drifting apart. Each day they had less to talk about. They started to avoid each other just to avoid the eerie awkwardness that often prevailed among them.

"When was it that wee realized that we have grown too busy for each other?"

This needn't no answer. They both knew they are going to be buddies for just a couple of months now, and they each knew they hadn't the guts to say good bye to each other. Each decided that moving on is easier for each other.

"I know", is what Re could only blurt out.

Changes were so soon for each of them. While one dreamed of flying to the far ends of the earth, away from the people who he is to call a family, the other decided to be stuck on with them. They were so similar, yet so different. There needn't much words between them, cause they always knew what the other were thinking about.

"What's stopping us then?"

Neither knew the answer to that. Things haven't just been normal between them. Soon each set out on his mobile, searching for ways to break contact.

"Stop pretending, already!", Adrian snapped.

"Alright. What do you what me to do?"

"Just not getting onto your phone for the tiny while am here would help".

Silence followed. The stars above them were glimmering in the winter sky. The sky was clearer than usual, and the moon was no where to be seen.
And the night passed.

With nothing to talk about, Adrian slipped back, looking into the darkness, unmindful of Red slipping away. He smiles to himself. They had the best of times, and maybe it truly was the time to think about the future and know that they are eventually going to drift away, seeing each other after a long time, hardly able to identify the person in them that they've once known.

All they'll have is the memories they've had with each other for the last three years, and they know they were great. It's what they intend to live upon. Little did they know of the changes that were in store for their lives.

But for now, they are still best of friends.
